You are warmly invited to the exhibition at the Francke Foundations by Jonas Fries (student at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design). The exhibition features concepts specifically developed for the historical location, centered around the connection between light and movement.
The artistic challenge was to reflect the facets of light reflections within the architecture as well as a contemporary understanding of light as a medium. The installations are the result of numerous experiments and technical considerations. These not only explore the boundaries between artificial and natural light but also encourage reflection on the relationship between humans and nature.
At the opening on October 30, 2024, at 1:00 PM, the artist will provide an introduction to the exhibition.

At the Arita Campus, the exchange study program “SPACE-ARITA,” specializing in ceramics, has been accepting students from Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle, Germany, since April. The final presentation of the results learned by the exchange students at Arita Campus and in the Hizen region will be held.
This time, the students have focused on the translucency of porcelain, creating works by embedding insects and plants into the ceramic body, using the effect of these elements appearing through the material. We warmly invite you to attend.

The porcelain plates were fired with negative casts of already destroyed organisms, and I also made plaster moulds for positive porcelain casts of the insects. The lifeless bodies of nocturnal insects had previously been attracted by an insect-killing lamp outside a supermarket.
